Tell Me Something Tuesday: Which Superpower Do You Wish You Had?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Heidi at Rainy Day Ramblings in order to discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging (and some slightly more personal matters throw in for good measure). After Heidi stopped blogging (apparently for good), five of us took over as hosts while providing new questions. The current team is composed of Berls at Because Reading Is Better Than Real LifeJen at That's What I'm Talking AboutKaren at For What It's WorthLinda at Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell and Roberta at Offbeat YA. This week's question is...

WHICH SUPERPOWER DO YOU WISH YOU HAD?

I would very much like to have something akin to the Doctor's regenerative power, only with conscious purpose and limited to specific body parts, so I could use it to conjure a head of glorious curls for myself 😂 (and to repair this old body LOL). Or I would like to at least be able to go back in time to get proper perms 😭. But since these are very peculiar uses of powers that are meant to work a bit differently, I'll go with a classic...TELEPORTATION!

As you can see if you click on the link above, there are a number of teleportation varieties (or at least there were in Charmed, specifically, which is where the gif above comes from. What Paige is doing there is called "orbing"). Anyway...it doesn't matter. The important bit is, I can't travel anywhere anymore for a number of reasons (the first of them being my husband's disability), and I've seen very little of my own country and nothing at all of the rest of the world. I would love to be able to teleport to all the places I've never visited but I wished I had - and to the few I have and I remember fondly - and be home for lunch

Well, that's it for now. Did you enjoy this post? Would you like to participate in the meme on a regular or semi-regular basis, and get emailed the prompt list? Just head over here and fill in Jen's form! (Of course, you can jump in anytime you like - you are under no obligation to actually do all the posts, or even most of them, just because you signed up, and you can remove yourself from the list at any time). And if you're interested in participating in a more casual manner, or only in commenting, here is the TMST prompt list for the rest of December and the first week of January (as I'm posting this, the questions for the following weeks haven't been scheduled yet):

  • Dec 16th: Have you been disappointed by the end of a series? If so, did you read that author again?
  • Dec 23rd: What's a song that always makes you want to dance?
  • Dec 30th: What are your favorite books/audiobooks that you read in 2025?
  • Jan 6th: What are your blogging/reading goals for the new year?

Right now, I'm not sure when I'll be back for the meme. I thought I'd answer the last questions of the month along with the January ones in a round-up post, but then I decided I'd start the new year with a hiatus...more about it in my next Offbeat Offline post.

Now tell me something...which superpower would you like to have the most?

  1. That is definitely a great super power and would be useful for everyday and special occasions.

    1. Exactly...I see it as a respite from my eternal routine, but it would be nice to use it when, say, shopping for groceries or going to appointments or...simply when needing to avoid bad weather 😁.

  2. I have to agree with the teleportation thing! I would use it so I don't get stuck in traffic commuting or waste time on long car rides to get somewhere😁

  3. I like the idea of regenerative power, too, especially as I feel like I'm feeling my age more and more each year. That said, I can't deny the convenience factor of teleportation. My only hangup with it is not being able to teleport others with me. It might defeat the actual convenience.

    1. But it looks like with teleportation you can bring others with you...in Charmed at least 😉. They used it that way all the time! As for regenerative power, yeah, that's a strong contender...*says she while hearing the sound of creaking bones*

  4. I agree, teleportation would just be such a time-saver, too. And never having to go out in the cold? Yes PLEASE! It has been in the single digits here (°F) so yeah that sounds good to me- no more digging out my car, etc. I used to think mind reading would be fun when I was a kid, but now I realize how calamitous that would really be 😂 OH does time travel count? Because then I pick that!

    1. Single digits?!? Ugh. You definitely need teleporting powers! I agree about mind-reading...as an adult, one can see how calamitous (very appropriate word!) it would be. And time travel absolutely counts, so you're allowed to choose it! 😉

  5. Teleportation - me too. It certainly would be a nice way to travel rather than the train or the bus. It would be nice to simply go to a warmer climate right about now.

I would like more than one superpower - like shrinking things so moving things around would be pain-free or read minds. People don't always say what they want and honesty is not always certain. Any one of these would be useful.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. That things-shrinking idea is really imaginative! I don't think I've ever seen such ability portrayed anywhere. I understand the appeal of reading minds, but as I was saying above, it could have catastrophic complications, especially in romantic relationships...

  6. I think I would want the superpower of teleportation. Where I could make myself teleport anywhere or make anything teleport to me.

    1. Make anything teleport to you? You might have invented a new cool superpower!

    2. LOL Wouldn't that be awesome?

  7. Teleportation across the country and around the world would be AMAZING! I could come visit you and you could come visit me!

    1. Ha! That would be nice! Plus I know you left a piece of your heart (and of your stomach 😂) in Italy!

  8. Years and years ago I invented a superhero in my head, and I named him Literati. The name kinda sucks, but that's okay. His superhero power is that he can bring any fictional character to life for 24 hours. He can only bring a particular character to life one time, and they can't act against their nature. Like you couldn't ask Superman to rob a bank for for Kermit the Frog to go on killing spree. But you could bring Godzilla to life to fight some giant monster or Sherlock Holmes to help solve a mystery. I want that power.

    1. I'm amazed! I don't think anyone has ever come up with such an idea (and character!). And you put a lot of thought into it, too. If your Literati existed, I know exactly which character I'd ask him to bring to life...you know, the one who travels in the blue phone box...😉

  9. Teleportation is a great choice. I think it would definitely be a good one to have. I think mind-reading would be good as well. The regenerative power one is an awesome one though and one I wouldn't have thought of. I used to love Charmed but have caught some reruns lately and current me is not impressed as much as I used to be. I used to love Cole though and am so sorry the actor died this year.

    1. I see that mind-reading is winning the poll here LOL. I would be afraid of that one. I haven't watched Charmed for ages but I think I would still like it. Julian McMahon was a great Cole, and his passing (along with Shannon Doherty's) was tragic. So many '90s heartthrobs dying or being seriously ill lately...

  10. That's a great power. Oh the traveling possibilities! I'd go with a healing factor though, perhaps similar to what you're talking about.

    1. Maybe the healing factor would be less popular if we were younger...😂 Also, so glad to see you! Are you planning a comeback to blogging as well? (No pressure...😅).

  11. I love the Charmed gif! I used to obsessively watch that show and haven't thought about it in years. I think I would like the ability to stop time.

    1. I was a fan, and I've watched most episodes more than once. Phoebe was my favourite sister, despite her unfortunate taste in "men" 😂. Stopping time Piper-style would be fun! and provide some welcome breathing space LOL.

Ugh, yes! Wouldn't that be amazing? All the places you could see...
