Veronika's thought-provoking post asks us if it makes sense to concentrate on new(er) releases to the point of neglecting old(er) books. She also lists the pros and cons of both things.

Weight-Loss Scare (post) - by Simone
As usual, Simone shares a personal story with us from the point of view of a black, disabled teenager. And as usual, even if her experience is first and foremost meant to help people in her situation - or simply to make them feel less alone - there's a lesson to be learned by everyone in there.

Spring Book Blast (campaign) - by Amber
Amber came up with a plan in order to help authors who have had their blog tours cancelled due to Coronavirus. Check her Google document out (that is, the list of cancelled events and related authors) and read how you can help.

Pay It Forward Gift Card Giveaway (charity giveaway) - by Karen
I love the idea of supporting local business during this time! Seeing everyone buying gift cards and the like always makes me happy. We've been in contact with a lady at our local nursery, letting her know what flowers/plants we want for the year! :)

Small businesses are really struggling right now - here, most of those who couldn't stay open due to Corona (like restaurants) are offering home delivery service. Good job on your plants!
DeleteThese posts seem awesome! I think it’s great that people are supporting local businesses during this time. I live in a small town with many small shops and I know a lot of them are stressed about what life will be like once they reopen.
ReplyDeleteI live in a 33,000+ inhabitants town, so we have lots of those as well. But even slightly bigger shops that are forced to stay closed and can't offer a home delivery service (like medium stores that sell clothes) are having it rough, I guess. Not to mention hairdressers, beauticians, gyms...Here's hoping that they can all stay afloat (with a little help from our central governments) and flourish when it all goes back to normal!
DeleteThank you for sharing these. I saw Karen's but not the others.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well and stay safe this week!! :)
I knew Karen didn't need a shout-out LOL - but it was a post that needed to be shared.
DeleteSame to you!
I can tell that we read and appreciate a lot of the same book blogs because I have already read and loved all of the posts you link here! You've got taste ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, we have the same circle of friends, that's the thing. But thank you!
DeleteBless your soul because I've been looking for some posts to read, haha! I haven't blog hopped in ages and since I'm somewhat ahead of classes by a small margin (still have to write that paper for a class and um... create the presentation but that's not due until next Monday).
ReplyDeleteI can see you're blog-hopping...all over my blog LOL 😘.
