Tell Me Something Tuesday Round-Up (January 2025)

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Heidi at Rainy Day Ramblings in order to discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging (and some slightly more personal matters throw in for good measure). After Heidi stopped blogging (apparently for good), five of us took over as hosts while providing new questions. The current team is composed of Berls at Because Reading Is Better Than Real LifeJen at That's What I'm Talking AboutKaren at For What It's WorthLinda at Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell and Roberta at Offbeat YA. This week's question is... This time I'm doing a round-up of the last month's worth of questions, because I hate how I've been M.I.A. when it comes to the meme!

January 2025 Round-Up
+ Question of the Day:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WINTER?

  • January 7th: What are your blogging/reading goals for the new year?
See my end-of-year wrap-up: post weekly (or better, produce one post per week, which isn't the same) and incorporate more backlist books into review schedule.

  • January 14th: What book have you most recently reread? Did your opinion of the book change?
Myriad by Joshua David Bellin (Adult, sci-fi - published in May 2023, reread in October 2024). My opinions on the books almost never change (then again, if they do, it's only by a fraction), and I'm pleased to say this one was no exception 👍.

  • January 21st: Which book/TV/movie character would you like to be friends with? (a question I submitted)
The kids from Fame (1982-1987 TV series) were around my age (or at least, their characters were) when the show was on, and I loved them and their dynamics - plus I didn't have any real friends back then, so they were my lifeline in more than one way. I wish I could have been friends with them in real life - especially with Doris (Valerie Landsburg) and Bruno (Lee Curreri)...(see below).

  • January 28th: What is your favorite thing about winter? (a question I submitted)
My birthday (Dec. 14th)...and the lack of life-draining heat 😅.

I'm also anticipating February 7th's question, which is today's one's companion, because I'm planning to take a hiatus next month:
  • February 7th: What is your least favourite thing about winter? (a question I submitted)
Getting sick...which never fails to happen (maybe because of my CLL, but then again, I used to get sick every winter as a kid too, and I wasn't immunocompromised yet...maybe the lack of tonsils had/still has a hand in this). Every year a damned cold, plus (and especially) a pharyngitis, laryngitis, whatever, that goes on for WEEKS 😭 🤬.

Well, that's it for now. Did you enjoy this post? Would you like to participate in the meme on a regular or semi-regular basis, and get emailed the prompt list? Just head over here and fill in Jen's form! (Of course, you can jump in anytime you like - you are under no obligation to actually do all the posts, or even most of them, just because you signed up, and you can remove yourself from the list at any time). And if you're interested in participating in a more casual manner, or only in commenting, here is the TMST prompt list for the month of February:

  • Feb 4th: What is your least favorite thing about winter? (a question I submitted)
  • Feb 11th: Share your romance (HEA/HFN) recommendations
  • Feb 18st: Do you like to cook or bake? What is your favorite thing to make? (a question I submitted)
  • Feb 25th: Which books are you looking forward to reading this Spring? (March-May)

I'll only be back for the meme on February 25th, and as I said, in between my Offbeat Offline post about January and my TMST one for the end of February, I'll be on hiatus.

Now tell me something...what do you like about winter?

  1. I used to love to watch that Fame show and I can definitely see why you would want to hang around with them. I think I would love to be friends with the people in The Big Bang Theory. Yes, Sheldon would annoy me and I'd have to tell Howard to stop making racially offensive comments to Raj, but I do think they demonstrated a close set of friends. I also love their fandom habits and geekiness - which I consider a good thing!

    1. Geekiness IS a good thing...though from what I've seen, they brought it to the next level LOL.

  2. Great roundup. And now you've given me an answer for next week's post. LOL! Nah, I already have one, but that is a good answer.

I forgot about Fame... they were so cool, and they could dance on the tables. haha!

    1. You're welcome to steal my answer! Not like it was particularly original, I guess 😉.

Their cafeteria was for dancing more than for eating...😂

  3. Winter is my least favorite season, but I do love snuggling in blankets and sweaters😁

    1. Snuggling should be a sport! Anyhow, you do enjoy a bit of snow too, don't you? Maybe not too much 😉.

  4. You have the same birthday as my mother and two of my cousins. Look at that! I loved Fame. It was a great show. I wanted to go to a cool high school like that.

    1. Seriously? All Dec. 14th babies? Funny!

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have had anything to contribute to that school LOL. I'm a self-professed quasi-decent amateur singer...and nothing else. But it was awe-inspiring to see those people perform. I think everyone has dreamed to be enrolled in such a school at some point...

  5. I can't remember if I watched Fame. I saw the movie. I didn't have friends back then either. I always think kids are cooler and more tolerant now than back then but when I talk to my nieces - they are not. In some ways, they are even crueler, thanks to SM.

Welcome to Offbeat YA! I love hearing from you and always - I mean always - acknowledge your comments. This used to be a full democracy place, because anyone could comment, regardless of being a registered member of any community. Unfortunately, I had to turn off the Anonymous comment option, because I was getting too much spam that didn't get filtered. So, you’ll need to have a Google account (Gmail will suffice) in order to comment. Sorry about that. Anyway, jump right in! Come on, you know you want to...😉 And be sure to leave a link!
BTW...I don't care if a post is a million months old - you comment, I respond. And you make my day 😃.
Note: this is an award/tag free blog. Sorry I can't accept nominations due to lack of time.
