BUT...I'm not a complete monster 😜. There are a few nice things to be said for summer, despite the physical misery it bestows upon me:
- it's the only season in which I can be absolutely sure I won't get sick (given my penchant for catching nasty cold/laryngitis combos);
- my boss leaves for three weeks and I can blog and read and tweet at work to my heart's content, while tailor-made reruns of my radio shows are airing without him even noticing (and I assure you, he deserves that and more);
- it's so easy and comfy to get dressed...No layers of clothes. No throat-preserving scarfs (that I wear 9 months a year). Oh, the freedom!
- June 16th: Do you tag authors in your (overall) positive reviews? How do you feel about authors not acknowledging them or opting out? (I submitted this one)
- June 23rd: blog break - no post
- June 30th: blog break - no post
- July 7th: How do you feel about book banning?
- July 14th: Does your reviewing style change depending on the book? (I submitted this one)
- July 21st: What ruins a good read for you?
- July 28th: What things make a good book for you?
I can find nothing redeeming about the summer. I usually do get sick during the summer, and it will be the most miserable summer cold or a sinus infection because of the drip that comes with summer. It's also frustrating when dressing. It will be oppressively hot outside, but cold as the tundra inside.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, and here I thought I hated the summer with a vengeance! Getting sick during the summer must be a nightmare. Also, yes, there are places where the air conditioning is brutal - thank goodness I don't work in one of those!
DeleteI LOVE summer. I agree that it’s nice to not have to wear such restricting clothes. I love being able to do my work outside, and the sunshine overall just puts me in a better mood.
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing that I didn't think to add, but yes, the sunshine makes one feel better no matter what - and I guess there are people who tend to feel more depressed when it's cloudy or rainy.
DeleteThose are three nice things and I can relate to them. But I like dressing for the cold more, I guess I'm not too comfy about showing off my body because there are less material to cover me.
ReplyDeleteI guess what I love about summer is people just seem less in a hurry, like at work, it seems less rush-rush and more relax or that could just be me.
Have a lovely summer.
Good observation. I guess that, even if real vacation time doesn't last more than a couple of weeks, the whole season has got this holiday vibe.
DeleteI love that one of your good things is getting to blog and read at work lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm so hopeless LOL.
DeleteI like summer when I'm outdoors and winter when I'm indoors. I find it cool to be able to be out in nature and read on a park bench when it's warm, but I also enjoy snuggling up with a fuzzy onesie and hot chocolate inside when it's cold. Summer inside is usually stuffy and uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteThe best of two worlds!
DeleteI also can't tolerate the overwhelming heat and humidity of the summer, and I burn easily, so my strategy is usually just to hide inside. It's nice to see the sun more though! Our winters are so gloomy, and since work is slower, I have more reading time!
ReplyDeleteI guess you have air conditioning...which I don't have LOL ðŸ˜.
DeleteYes to sunny days of course, and to more reading time!
You surprised me! I know you HATE summer so I was shocked to see you put a positive twist on it lol
ReplyDeleteI hated summer in FL (for obvious reasons) but it's gorgeous out here in the summer. Warm but not hot days, cool breezy nights.

Haha, I know! I was sure this post would come unexpected 😉.
DeleteI envy you...you know that. After all those Florida infernos, you can finally enjoy summer. Of course, there's the downside...brutal winters LOL.
I'm not a big fan of summer, even though I enjoy going to the beach.
ReplyDeleteBut summer in a small apartment in Athens is like torture. It's just too hot! Luckily, I'm a freelancer, so I'll probably head to my hometown, which is a rural area.
Athens is a wonderful place (I've never had the chance to visit, but of course it is!), but being holed up without air conditioning isn't my idea of fun either LOL. At least you can escape!
DeleteI genuinely expected to open this post and find "NOTHING" written as your answers, with capital letters, of course. 😅 I definitely agree about the dressing! What I hate in the cold is that I have to carry around my coat and scarf all. day. long. at university, or if I go to the mall. I have a friend who loves shopping - and I do too - and we can spend a whole day in the mall. 😅 When it's cold out I'm forced to carry my coat on my arm for hours and hours, and my arm hurts the next day, as stupid as that sounds. 😂

DeleteMy friends know me so well LOL. And yet...I have some aces up my sleeve 😉.
A whole day in the mall?!? Is it a huge one?
