Girl Hate in YA (discussion post) - by Ely
Ely reflects on the harmful trope of girl-against-girl in YA, and asks herself (and you) if things are changing. I typically read genres where girl hate is almost unheard of (what with me hardly picking up a contemporary, or one of those thrillers that, more often than not, end up going all mean-girls on you), so I'm not particularly well-equipped to answer her question, but I hope you are!

26 unusual short stories about imaginary friends, one of them penned by one of "my" authors, Troy H. Gardner. As the blurb goes, "Are they in our imagination, or are we in theirs? Mad Scientist Journal has brought together twenty-six tales of people with uncertain existence. These accounts range from cheerful to dark, stopping off at frequent points between. Imaginary friends share space with witches, monsters, nightmares, and maybe a few things that have not yet been dreamed."

7 Lighter, Non-Spooky October Reads (recommendation post) - by Veronika
OK, October is 3 days past, but...it's still THAT time of the year. While we all were reviewing and listing the most horrific, spooky books we could think about, Veronika got you covered if you're not a fan of the darkest stuff 😉. Seven books/series that aren't overly creepy or twisted, but still appropriate for Halloween (and beyond) if you want to dip your toes into lit that will give you a thrill. Some contemporary, some historical, all 100% gore-free!

Non-US-based bloggers have it rough on so many counts. Alice-Elizabeth looks at one facet of the problem, and proposes a possible solution. Along with having to buy all your books for lack of INTL libraries, and not being eligible to receive physical ARCs, if you're an international blogger you can feel left out more than your US counterparts in a number of ways. Same if you're a neurodiverse one. Is there a way for "weaker" bloggers to get help and make their blog grow?
