Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Heidi at Rainy Day Ramblings in order to discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging (and some slightly more personal matters throw in for good measure). After Heidi stopped blogging (apparently for good), five of us took over as hosts while providing new questions. The current team is composed of Berls at Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life, Jen at That's What I'm Talking About, Karen at For What It's Worth, Linda at Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell and Roberta at Offbeat YA. This week's question is... This time I'm doing a round-up of the last month's worth of questions, because I hate how I've been M.I.A. when it comes to the meme!
October 2025 Round-Up
+ Question of the Day:
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE HALLOWEEN (OR COSPLAY) COSTUME? *BONUS FOR PHOTOS!
- October 7th: What's a movie or TV show that you'd recommend to everyone?
You all know I'm a huge series fan, and I have a number of favourites that I love to bits, but most of them I couldn't, in good conscience, recommend to "everyone". I mean, there's probably no such thing as a series that would qualify. Then again, I think Fame might appeal to most people...and even if I didn't love the latest seasons, I strongly believe that Doctor Who might do the same, even if you aren't a sci-fi fan, because at its core, it's about an age-old, ever-changing alien who, in whatever of their incarnations, retains a genuine curiosity and a deep love for the human race, and does their best to save it, and has a penchant for making its members feel special...It's a show that feels like a warm embrace, and makes you forget your woes for an hour, so what more can you ask for?
- October 14th: Has a book ever ignited a hobby/passion in you? (a question I submitted)
I came up with this question because I thought it was a possibility for someone else, but in my case, no, it never happened. Then again, each and every book that I end up loving reignites my passion for...reading!
- October 21st: What’s something you rebelled against as a kid? (a question I submitted)
Oh, everything LOL. Don't get me wrong - I wasn't the kind of kid/teen who does things in spite of their parents or anything. But I've always been a free thinker and averse to following arbitrary rules, trends, etc. And I used to HATE those women who met me in company of my mum and told her "oh, she's grown up so much, she's a young lady by now" while I was a pre-teen and felt very much my age and didn't want to be aged up just because my body told them otherwise...or because they "thought" a girl should necessarily love it (for the record, I hated that spiel even when I was a proper teen). So I told them things like "your saying so doesn't please me much, you know" 😂 (I'm not sure if it was just that one time, but I know I said it at least once).
- October 28th: What was your favorite Halloween (or cosplay) costume? *Bonus for photos!
First off, I've never celebrated Halloween (it only became a thing in Italy when I was an adult, and by then, I didn't have anyone to celebrate it with), and I've never cosplayed...but I masked up a few times for our Carnival when I was in high school, and I'd have done it many more times after - heck, I'd happily do it even now - if I had had company. Anyhow, brace yourself for not one, but TWO photos of me in costume! Yep, that's me below...respectively at 17 and 19...and since I've never posted a pic of myself in 13 years of blogging, and the question promised a bonus for photos...I should probably get a double one! 😜 (P.S.: I swear I haven't changed a lot since the '80s...except that I used to have better hair 😖).

| HELLO!!! |
OK, so...the pic above is a close-up taken from the one below, where I'm with a few friends during the March 1983 Carnival parade. I went as the Black Corsair, a character from a classic Italian book that had later been made into a movie. I liked to dress as male characters (especially rogue ones LOL)...anyhow, the long hair was on point, since the original character's was long too (if only barely wavy). Of course I didn't go as far as to incorporate the facial hair though LOL. LOOK AT THOSE CURLS! 😠(That was my first perm, done almost a year before!!! back when I didn't use to redo the bangs mid-year yet). Ahem...back to topic...just two more things: the costume was borrowed from a schoolmate, and the revised Jedi beside me is Walter, a friend of some friends whom I met that day, and who went on to become my first unrequited love...
The pic below was taken in February 1986 (I cropped out the friend I was with that day, because we had such a complicated relationship, and she was the cause of more tears that I can count...). Needless to say, I went as Robin Hood (can you see a pattern here? rogue male hero LOL). I look bulky because I was wearing a couple of sweaters below the costume (February is cold here, folks!), which had been sewn by my mum. You can, if barely, see the quiver on my shoulders. And yeah, I had a toy bow (almost invisible in my left hand) with toy arrows! And...again, awesome curls (*sighs*).
Well, that's it for now. Did you enjoy this post? Would you like to participate in the meme on a regular or semi-regular basis, and get emailed the prompt list? Just head over here and fill in Jen's form! (Of course, you can jump in anytime you like - you are under no obligation to actually do all the posts, or even most of them, just because you signed up, and you can remove yourself from the list at any time). And if you're interested in participating in a more casual manner, or only in commenting, here is the TMST prompt list for the month of November:
- November 4th: Where do you purchase the majority of your books?
- November 11th: What's a piece of advice you'd give to your younger self?
- November 18st: Are you an early bird or a night owl? (a question I submitted)
- November 25th: Which books are you looking forward to reading this winter? (December-February)
I'll only be back for the meme on November 18th, but in the meantime, I'll read your posts and comment on them!
Now tell me something...have you ever worn a costume? and if you have, which one did you like the most? also, are you shocked by my face reveal? 🤣

Welcome to Offbeat YA! I love hearing from you and always - I mean always - acknowledge your comments. This used to be a full democracy place, because anyone could comment, regardless of being a registered member of any community. Unfortunately, I had to turn off the Anonymous comment option, because I was getting too much spam that didn't get filtered. So, you’ll need to have a Google account (Gmail will suffice) in order to comment. Sorry about that. Anyway, jump right in! Come on, you know you want to...😉 And be sure to leave a link!
BTW...I don't care if a post is a million months old - you comment, I respond. And you make my day 😃.
