In the age of Booktube, Bookstagram and Booktok, are we book bloggers still relevant? Briana put together a short and sweet list with the main reasons why the answer is YES, and why authors/publishers shouldn't discount blogs as a way to promote books. Great post, also because bloggers themselves need the reminder sometimes...
Good News From the Weird Wide World (fun post) - by Lissa
Always the creative, Lissa posted a short round of fictional news guaranteed to make you chuckle. I especially liked the one about The Museum of Invisible Arts 😂.

Best Free Services for Email Blog Subscriptions (tips post) - by Jen
Did you know that the "Follow by Email" option via Feedburner was a goner? Jen put together a great list of free services for those bloggers who are unsure how to make up for that. Yep, coming July, you'll need a different way to get email subscribers and deliver your posts into their virtual hands. I was lost, but thanks to Jen's insight and relentless encouragement, I was finally able to make one of those work for me! So it's safe to say that you will too 🙂.

Titan Scoops Winning Fantasy The Shadow Glass (book deal announcement) - by The Bookseller
I saw a notification come up on my blog about the follow by email button being gone, but I didn't really read it properly and didn't understand what it meant so I just deleted it. Probably should have read it, lol! I will have to check out Jen's post and get educated on how this will affect us.
ReplyDeleteBlogger keeps cutting branches 😭. Jen did a fab post about the issue, and she was a great mentor in my time of need LOL. I'm sure you'll find what you need, but if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask her! I'm using MailerLite now, and I'm still figuring it out. It seems like a good option though.
DeleteJen did a great job finding replacements for feedburner. I'm just gonna let it go because I only had a handful of email subscribers anyway. So they'l just have to find a new way to follow me or bookmark my page. lol
ReplyDeleteI was tempted to do the same, since I only have 20 LOL. But I decided to complicate my life, as one does 😂.
DeleteAHHHHHH that's super exciting to see a book you beta read getting published! I didn't read the email about Feedburner properly either though, which probably would've spelled trouble if I were still on Blogger, whoops. But I'm definitely still looking for a better subscription service than my current one, so I'll hop over to Jen's post next!
ReplyDeleteGOOD MORNING ROBERTA
"AHHHHHH that's super exciting to see a book you beta read getting published!"
DeleteIt's the second, after The Art of Escaping. I'm starting to think I am good luck 😂.
I hope you'll find a good one! and GOOD MORNING SOPHIA 😁.
I saw a few of these. Fun. :) Thanks for sharing, and hope you're having a good weekend... it's almost over which is not fair ha!
ReplyDeleteI know! It's not easy to find posts that most of my followers haven't seen yet - that's why I throw the towel and don't post a TYT installment sometimes...
DeleteIt's a new week already in my corner of the world! *sighs* Have a good one!
I've seen many book blog tours so I know bloggers and blogs are good places to promote books. It's one of the main way I find out about new books. I don't do much book browsing except when I'm browsing books stores online.
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring one of my posts. I think that one is one of my favorite posts that I wrote in April - it was fun to write.
I had decided not to use any email subscription but maybe I should rethink that, although, I don't have that many subscribing by email, it's like three people.
'Bloodthirsty puppets' sounds like a horror book to me but I'm glad for any writer that gets a book deal for their work and I know it's hard work to write even one book. I guess I would be be proud as well if I have some hand in the book.
Have a lovely day.
I think book bloggers will stand the test of time, even with so many other (and mind you, valid) ways to promote books, and publishers will come back to them eventually. We're here for the long run 😉.
DeleteI enjoyed all your fun posts, so I thought one of them at least should make the list!
It's a bit of a job to set up a subscription service - I'm still working on it, because apparently, I didn't do everything right the first time around LOL. Plus they usually want you to display your physical address, though I found one where I managed not to. I have 21 followers, which admittedly is not enough to face all that work, but I liked the idea to give (more?) people the option of following me by email. Then again, I understand you not being willing to do it, but if you change your mind, Jen's article is really helpful.
Haha, it's more like dark contemporary fantasy, not horror in the classic sense.
I think I have the Shadow Glass!!! I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteYou can't. It will only come out in a year 😉. Wait, you revealed your secret superpower! You time-travel!
DeleteWe don't seem to get much respect anymore as opposed the flashier BookYube/BookTok etc. but I still find almost all my new books from my fellow bloggers.
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I hope publishers and authors can see this!
DeleteSigh, I guess I should do the email thing too, arghh feedburner
ReplyDeleteArgh indeed LOL. But Jen's post is SO helpful.
DeleteThis is such an AMAZING idea, I love it so much! ALSO I was literally just stressing about the email thing, so I am so appreciative that you shared Jen's post! (I get her emails, ironically, but I mass-deleted everything ever recently, whoops!)
ReplyDeleteThanks! And oops 😂. Sometimes the amount of emails is too overwhelming for us to be able to sort the wheat from the chaff...
