Tell Me Something Tuesday: What Do You Do for Fun When You Aren't Blogging?

Welcome to Offbeat YA! I love hearing from you and always - I mean always - acknowledge your comments. This used to be a full democracy place, because anyone could comment, regardless of being a registered member of any community. Unfortunately, I had to turn off the Anonymous comment option, because I was getting too much spam that didn't get filtered. So, you’ll need to have a Google account (Gmail will suffice) in order to comment. Sorry about that. Anyway, jump right in! Come on, you know you want to...😉 And be sure to leave a link!
BTW...I don't care if a post is a million months old - you comment, I respond. And you make my day 😃.
Note: this is an award/tag free blog. Sorry I can't accept nominations due to lack of time.

I love to bake when I'm not blogging or reading. I have such a sweet tooth, and baking really takes me away from all my stressors.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't hurt that you can make your own treats LOL.
DeleteI bet a lot of us read when we aren't blogging! I lumped reading in with blogging, but like you, it's less and less time these days. *sigh* Great prompt!
ReplyDeleteMost of us bloggers don't really have time for anything else LOL.
DeleteI didn't get to do much of it this year but my favorite hobby is gardening. More than reading or blogging.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of growing things and luring in all that nature!
Karen @ For What It's Worth
"luring in all that nature - very nicely said haha.
DeleteReading and writing and listening to music - that's me too. I have my longer answer in a blog post. I decide to just join in once a while and not sign up.
ReplyDeleteI do like the idea of exploring new places, castles, maybe but I wouldn't actually do that because I dislike traveling for one thing and the other thing is, I might think such places would be haunted. I'm too much of a scaredy cat to explore, unless there are 10 or more people there also.
Have a lovely week.
Yep, I saw your post - I'm going to comment on it ASAP!
DeleteYou have a vivid imagination! I think if I suspected they were haunted, I would be even more eager to visit them (you know me and my fictional ghosts LOL - it would be nice to meet a real one for once!).
I did nothing else than read as a kid, all I was known for in school was reading. Readers unite!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would LOVE to explore fortresses too
I always got books for Christmas and birthdays! but it sounds like you were an even more severe case 😉.
DeleteI read a book about Urban Exploring, but they went through all abandoned places. Sounded scary and dangerous. But seeing the sights is something I could get behind.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, not what I had in mind, though I can get behind that too. I would be contented with visiting towns and cities. What book was that?
DeleteIs watching Netflix a hobby? Because if so, I have years of dedicated experience. 😂 In all seriousness though, I love films and shows almost as much as I love reading, and I reviewed horror movies with a friend for a couple years in high school (happy to say my review quality has vastly improved...).
ReplyDeleteI also love baking/cooking, and I do monthly recipe challenges with my mom. I love crafty things (still learning on the sewing machine), and I'm hoping to learn how to crochet this winter because... I didn't have enough projects already? I'm always up to my eyeballs in something. xD
"I reviewed horror movies with a friend for a couple years in high school".
DeleteI'm surprised, but not surprised LOL. Now crocheting isn't something I would associate with you instead 😂. And no, you didn't have enough projects already, of course 🤣. And here I can barely read and blog and be social. I'm envious.
One of my favourite things to do when I'm not writing or reading is drawing. I'm not the best at it, but I love thinking up cool characters or designs and then scanning it and digitally sketching over it on the computer. The computer is really where I bring my drawings to life. Basically, anything to do with digital design or animation is my bread-and-butter. Wow, I didn't know that you were a radio host! That must be so cool to know that people are tuneing in and listening to your music tastes.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your art that you put on your blog! and it's even more impressive when one thinks you use your mouth to draw and digitally work on it. I can't draw a stick figure to save my life 😂.
DeleteEh, not as cool as one would think. It's a small radio station, and I'm fed up with it at this point, for more than one reason. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
I like your idea of exploring- I've always enjoyed that as well. Especially urban areas- and castles/ fortresses, wow. that would be awesome. I like to daydream about exploring windswept ruins in the British Isles or somewhere... :)
ReplyDeleteYou're making me crave for Stonehenge now LOL.
DeleteSwimming used to be my biggest thing, but when that ended, I turned to books and blogging! I also love travel, but like you, it's not possible at the moment, between being broke, having kids, and COVID. I am obsessed with The 100 but I don't think that counts hahah
ReplyDeleteYou swam? As in, semi-professionally maybe?
DeleteHaha, but I'm sure The 100 counts, even if it ended! Keeping the fandom up and all that 😉.
Besides reading and blogging, I really love listening to podcasts, as you know.. haha. And that's actually a hobby I discovered during lockdown, so this would be my answer for next week too. I love going to the cinema and theater, but even though both are open in Hungary, I understandably haven't been for a while. Still, I like watching stuff at home too, though this semester I have multiple classes where we have to watch movies - last week I had to watch FOUR - so I'm kind of burnt out of movies at this point. Still, I watched two films with Sabrina during my autumn break, and I have a friend who I watch a film with about every other week. (Online, of course, especially during the pandemic.)
ReplyDeleteI also love hiking and taking long walks, but that one is a bit complicated because I live in a small town, with very few places I can go to, so walking here is far from exciting. My mom and I don't have a car, and neither do most of my friends, so actually getting to places is difficult. I'd also love to visit urban landscapes and castles/fortresses, like you mentioned, but sadly, I don't really have the chance because of this. :( I really want to visit the Bran Castle in Romania one day.
Podcasts? Really? I wouldn't know 😂.
DeleteFour movies in a week is A LOT! even if you do enjoy them. I understand the burnout...But I'm sure your passion will come back once they're not required material anymore. I hope going to the cinema and the theater will become safe again sooner than we expect, but alas, I guess it's wishful thinking for now.
I didn't know you didn't have a car - I seem to understand that the public system transport isn't doing a good job there? (though I guess it's very unsafe to ride on buses and trains at the mo anyhow...).
I've just seen this reply, sorry! As I said, we live in a small village - population is approx. 5000 people - so there is one bus here which is not terribly frequent. And I need that bus to get to the train, so already that's an obstacle. The other thing is that Hungary is pretty much centered around Budapest (& to a lesser extent other big cities) so whenever you try to go somewhere, you have to go to a big city, likely Budapest, and then get on a train or bus from there. We went for a hike to some mountains a few weeks ago, which are about an hour away by car... but I have no idea how we would have gotten there with public transport, likely by taking a huge detour. :/
DeleteIt does sound complicated. Anyhow, even here, public transport isn't what it used to be anymore. I've never driven, and yet I've gone to uni, concerts, visited friends in other regions...all by train. Now it would be next to impossible, or very hard at least. I don't know if you have a driving licence, but I hope you're not a scaredy cat like me, and the only reason why you don't drive is that you're waiting to land a job in order to buy a car!
DeleteI do a lot of reading. Sometimes I make beaded jewelry for myself. I have a huge collection of glass beads that I use to make earrings mostly.
ReplyDeleteYou're more artistic than most of us! Custom-made jewelry is fun.
DeleteI know one for you: screeching GOOD MORNING on people's blogs.
ReplyDeleteOkay, just mine. Maybe. 😂
I was always that quiet girl as well, although I seem to be doing more of the listening to music part as of late.
I think if I had more internet access at home I would probably be spending more time blogging, at least until I got all my old posts all sorted out. That's still uh... a mess. But I'm about halfway through, so it's progress! (I suppose I could go do it on my phone but that's just painful if you ask me.) Other than that, well, nothing really other than role-playing in a Discord server occasionally.
"screeching GOOD MORNING on people's blogs".
DeleteNow that should be deemed as a proper hobby 😂.
We are incorrigible, aren't we? Blogging and more blogging and thinking of blogging LOL. I'm curious about your role-playing game now though.
