Tooting Your Trumpet #14

Some people toot their own trumpet. I mean to toot yours. On the first Sunday of every month, I'm sharing your posts, your sites, anything interesting I stumble upon during my internet vagrancies. This month on TYT...
  • LET’S TALK ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERNATIONAL REVIEWER (a think-piece/discussion post on Fadwa's blog Word Wonders)

Let’s Talk About My Experience as an International Reviewer (think-piece/discussion post) - by Fadwa

Fadwa tells it like it is for us non-US (and non-UK, to an extent) based content creators. From  access to books (or lack thereof), to relationships with publishers, to all the book-related activities/goodies our US bookish friends take for granted and we hardly get a chance to enjoy.

Blogging Tips: 5 Easy Ways to Make Your Blog More Accessible for Screen Readers (+ Bonus Social Media Tips!) (tips list) - by Kit

Kit compiled a considerate and useful list of ways you can enhance your blog/site/social media content for visually impaired users. From alt text for images, to blockquotes, to cryptic Twitter symbols that screen readers can't translate, it's all there - and it's simple!

Book Blogging vs. Booktoking AKA "Why Can't We All Just Get Along?" (discussion post + interview) - by Emily

Emily tackles the latest content creators conflict - book bloggers vs. booktokers - and wonders why we shouldn't simply admit we are two faces of the same coin. Her post contains an analysis of the BookTok phenomenon for those who (like me) aren't familiar with it, and an interview with a budding booktoker.

How to Create Disabled Representation in Sci-Fi and Fantasy (tips list/ownvoice think piece) - by Simone

Simone has just started a series of posts aimed at helping authors who want to include disability rep in their books, but may need a heads-up. Being both an ownvoice and a brilliant populariser, she teaches writers how to make a disabled representation for sci-fi and fantasy worlds, tells them some things to watch out for, and in the end includes some cool examples of what's already there.

Welcome to Offbeat YA! I love hearing from you and always - I mean always - acknowledge your comments. This used to be a full democracy place, because anyone could comment, regardless of being a registered member of any community. Unfortunately, I had to turn off the Anonymous comment option, because I was getting too much spam that didn't get filtered. So, you’ll need to have a Google account (Gmail will suffice) in order to comment. Sorry about that. Anyway, jump right in! Come on, you know you want to...😉 And be sure to leave a link!
BTW...I don't care if a post is a million months old - you comment, I respond. And you make my day 😃.
Note: this is an award/tag free blog. Sorry I can't accept nominations due to lack of time.
