Hello, Haul (A.K.A. My Birthday/Christmas Books Have Arrived!)

Hello sweeties!

Just a quick post to let you know that the books from my latest haul arrived today. Or, ten out of twelve of them arrived.

Alas, my vendor wasn't able to locate a copy of Lucid by Jay Bonansinga (which I expected), but they didn't have any luck with Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day by Seanan McGuire either. I mean...that's a 2017 book, for goodness' sake. Where did it go?

(01/25 edit: my vendor contacted me to let me know they were able to obtain a copy of Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day, and that they will send it to me free of any shipping expense if I still want it, since it was left out of my latest order!!! Yay!).

But I'm happy to report (if you haven't caught the news on Twitter) that I was able to find another vendor that accepts cash-on-delivery, so now I'm the proud owner of a copy of In an Absent Dream (again by McGuire), or Book 4 in the Wayward Children series! I still can't understand why the first vendor wasn't able to find it via their usual sources, while they were/are with all the other installments in the series. Oh, well. I have my precious little book now, that's what counts. Sadly, the second vendor doesn't have Dusk or Dark either, but the site says "temporarily unavailable", so there's still hope. Why are all these McGuire books being so difficult 🙄.

I wish I had the time and skills to take pics of my precious darlings, but you know I don't LOL. Also, it's not like I have the right paraphernalia to concoct book aestethics. So...this is as good as it's going to get - sorry!

Expect a stream of mini-reviews on Goodreads in the next weeks, though, as eager as I am to read all those novels, I'll be slow - I have real-life commitments and other stuff to post on the blog and comments to leave/reply to...Even while I'm writing this, it's past midnight here, and past my bedtime LOL. I'm a mess 😂. I have had the new books with me for 6 hours, and I haven't even managed to start one of them yet!

  1. You ordered 12 books at once? I can never make big purchases like that. It makes me nervous. Glad you were able to get Absent Dream (on your own terms) and I hope you enjoy all your new books!

    1. Once in a year I go all out LOL. Seriously - I take advantage of the extra money that comes with the holidays (Christmas bonus at work, but more than anything, the money my parents give me for my birthday and Christmas, bless them) and order a stack of books that I've researched thoroughly through the year and am REASONABLY sure I will like (though it's not a given of course - I've made some faux paux occasionally). Nervous? Why? I'm not nervous at at all - just so excited!

      Thank you!

  2. Getting new books is always such a great feeling! Glad you were able to locate some of the books you wanted, although that's unfortunate about the ones no one can find. Enjoy your books! Don't worry about the photos. I started an Instagram when I first started blogging and immediately realized I would never take the kinda book photos other people do. I don't have the props or the energy. We still get to read and review the books though, that's what counts!

    1. I was able to find the other McGuire books at the last minute, so I'm only missing one of those now! Not that bad 🙂.

Yep, reading and reviewing is a priority, and I'm not the artistic type when it comes to visual arts *shudders*. But once in a while, it would be nice to be able to showcase my new purchases in all their glory, because it almost feels like nothing is real unless it's on a pic or a vid nowadays LOL.

  3. I hate it when I'm avidly anticipating a book, and it arrives, and then I can't get to it right away lol. that's the worst. :) Hope the McGuire books are awesome- I've read a few of her books and I definitely want to read more- I haven't tried this series yet though.

    1. It will probably take me ages to read all those books LOL - I have a blog to maintain...and a house...and a job *sighs*.

I wholeheartedly recommend anything McGuire (well, anything I've read by her - she writes so much that I don't think I'll ever get to the bottom of her catalogue 😂) The Wayward Children series is really unique, plus it's made from novellas (they usually clock at less than 200 pages), so it's an ideal read when you have little time.

  4. Happy to hear your books have arrived. Even if you don't have enough time to read them all yet, nothing brightens a day like the smell of fresh paper and the sight of new, shiny book covers from a book delivery. If any of my relatives give me money for Christmas, they all know what it's going towards... That's usually when I make my big purchases too.

  5. I'm sorry it gets so complicated for you to get books. It seems like a HUGE project but yay! for getting it all worked out and you know I'll be looking for those mini reviews :-)
