Tell Me Something Tuesday: What’s the Chore You Resent Having to Do the Most?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Heidi at Rainy Day Ramblings in order to discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging (and some slightly more personal matters throw in for good measure). While Heidi is on an extended hiatus, there are five of us who are hosting it and providing the questions. The current team is composed of Berls at Because Reading Is Better Than Real LifeJen at That's What I'm Talking AboutKaren at For What It's WorthLinda at Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell and Roberta at Offbeat YA. This week's question is...

WHAT’S THE CHORE YOU RESENT HAVING TO DO THE MOST?

If we're talking in general, the thing I hate the most is washing my hair. It's SOOOOO boring, especially the part where I have to blow-dry it (that's why I usually leave it half-wet and let it do the rest on its own accord. It's not like I wash my hair before I leave the house, after all). You're there, with the darned hair-dryer in your hand and the darned noise in your ears, and you can't do ANYTHING to entertain yourself (not even listen to music...or to an audiobook, if you like them), or speed the process.

If we're talking about housekeeping though, nothing beats ironing for me. Another super-boring task (though in that case, you CAN listen to music/audiobooks while performing it at least)...and the worst thing is, I hate creases, so I'm stuck with it πŸ˜–.

Well, that's it for now. Did you enjoy this post? Would you like to participate in the meme on a regular or semi-regular basis, and get emailed the prompt list? Just head over here and fill in Jen's form! (Of course, you can jump in anytime you like - you are under no obligation to actually do all the posts, or even most of them, just because you signed up, and you can remove yourself from the list at any time). And if you're interested in participating in a more casual manner, or only in commenting, here is the TMST prompt list for the rest of February and the month of March:

  • February 15th: Share your favourite romance moments: movie, book, story, etc.
  • February 22nd: Has a book by your favourite author ever disappointed you badly? (a question I submitted)
  • March 1st: If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why? (a question I submitted)
  • March 8th: Share a new-to-you series you love
  • March 15th: Would you like to be paid to blog/write reviews? (a question I submitted)
  • March 22nd: How do you choose what to read next?
  • March 29th: Do you leave blog comments? Do you respond to comments left on your blog?

I'll be back on February 22nd, because of course...you know me and romance LOL.

Now tell me something...what's the task you wish you could skip or someone else could do for you?

  1. My shampoo bars smell so good. I enjoy the washing the hair part. The drying, yeah, not as much fun. Too noisy. I am happy that I almost never iron any longer with this whole work from home and casual thing. It's amazing! I hate cleaning the bathroom. It frustrates me the way the grout collects dust, and I am then compelled to get down on the floor and scrub between the tiles. Don't even get me started on the shower. It's a labor of love.

    1. Scrub between the tiles? My body won't take it LOL.

  2. For me it has to be cleaning my shower. It takes so long as I am a perfectionist and I always end up hurting my back.

    1. I think cleaning a bath tube (like in my case) is much easier, even if you have to bend over it. Showers are a pain in the ass.

  3. Ironing sucks. Worst ever?

  4. OMG - I stopped ironing altogether. Now that I'm working from home - who cares if I have wrinkles... I wear yoga pants and sweaters mostly. LOL!

    1. I can't have wrinkles on me regardless of the place I'm in LOL.

  5. I stopped ironing years ago, lol. I hate cleaning my stove, but actually I dislike most housework!

    1. The stove is another pain in the ass. But I mostly use it to heat up things...I'm not a great cook. That saves a lot of cleaning! πŸ˜‰

  6. I haven't thought of washing one's hair a chore, it's more of a necessity although I do sort of dislike the blowing dry part. Some people do not notice but blow dryers are pretty loud and are not good for your hearing so it's better not to do too much blow drying unless your blow dryer is the quiet type.

It's funny, I actually don't iron my clothes anymore ever since I don't have to go to the office. But I suppose I sort of have to iron if company comes over which is very low but I definitely recommend ironing your bed sheets before you place them because wrinkled sheets are not good for sleeping, at least, I find it's better for one's sleep with smooth sheets.

Actually, dusting is the one chore that I really can't stand because even if you dust the day before, there's more. It's like they accumulated right away.

Sorry, I seem to be giving advices for no reason. Don't mind me.

    Have a lovely day.

LOL. I do iron my sheets, but as soon as you go to bed, they're full of wrinkles again...so I'm not sure it helps much. And oh, yeah, dust! It's a never-ending battle.

  7. You sort of threw me with the hair drying because I was completely expecting you to scream IRONING lol

I can't even remember the last time I ironed lol

The hair washing doesn't bother me. I was every 3-4 showers & let it air dry. If it's a mess, I sometimes just throw it up in a ponytail. I used to straight iron it but my new hairdresser is amazing and it usually looks decent straight out of bed now.

    1. I DID scream "ironing"! But the hair part is even worse for me. I usually procrastinate by surfing the net, and end up washing it late in the morning...

It sounds like you found a competent hairdresser!

  8. I also hate washing my hair, because it is so hard for me to do (but it has gotten a little bit easier for me).

    1. I'm sorry to hear it's difficult for you - for me it's mostly boring (though with old age my back tends to ache when I do it).

  9. OMG YES finally someone who agrees about the hair washing! I HATE washing my hair. Forget the drying, I simply don't. Like, ever. If I have dried my hair, it must be a very special occasion. I have suuuuper thick hair and it takes forever to get all the shampoo out, and then forever to get the snarls out and then forever to dry. It's usually still wet at least two days later. I just washed it tonight and I am low key mad just thinking about it!

As for household chores... look, I don't own an iron. And I can't imagine I ever will? I hate the dishes even though I have a dishwasher. I normally don't hate the laundry, but the washer and dryer are in the basement, so I hate lugging the laundry up and down all the stairs. Cooking I think is the worst- I HATE cooking!

  10. I gotta be honest, I don't think I've ever ironed anything in my life, and I don't own an iron or a hairdryer lol. I hate all chores though, because they are all exhausting. Though, to be fair, I didn't like them before I was ill either 😁

    1. Ha! I think there are very few people who actually LIKE chores, though my mum used to like ironing when she was younger and much healthier...she said she found it relaxing 😢.
